Our pickleball family is growing by leaps and bounds, and it is hard to keep up with those that play in tournaments. Help us recognize you and share the good news if you reach the podium. Please send a picture and let us know the details (Peggy1Pickleball@Gmail.com or text to 770-366-3351) and we’ll post to our Facebook page. It’s a BIG DILL and we want to celebrate you!

It’s common when I’m on the courts, to hear, Peggy, we need ……. with some item that would enhance our courts, or make playing more comfortable. My reply is “Show me the money and we’ll make it happen.” I thought it would be a good idea to have a list and remind everyone how we operate and how we’ve accomplished all we have thus far. This “Wish List” allows us to prioritize the items and get prices.

REMEMBER, we are a non-profit club and operate from generous donations. We must raise money in order to purchase anything – including the BALLS we play with. Please keep this in mind each time you reach in the bucket and grab a ball. Any amount helps, and if you’ve not made a contribution in a while, please consider making a donation.

ITEMS on the Wish List:
~Four new benches to add seating on the outdoor courts (were $750 each when purchased in 2021)
~A covered bleacher section on the far side of the courts. The cover is $9,000 and the bleachers were $3,000 each when purchased with the new court project (2021)
~A gate opening into the area between the bleachers. I’ve not received a price.
~A new or used sturdy metal shelving unit for the storage building.
~Astroturf for under the bleachers (to replace the crushed gravel).
~A picnic table and seating between the two bleachers
~Outdoor balls are $199 for 100 and indoor balls are $29.99 per dozen. We always appreaciate and accept donations for the BALL fund!
We’re happy to add to this list if you have suggestions and appreciate ideas for a fund-raising campaign.

ITEMS previously purchased:
Let’s recongize what we HAVE already accomplished since our Club was organized:
~The most recent purchase is a battery operated blower (THANKS to the generous donation from a Club member). The blower is stored in the outside storage building. The blower will be helpful after rain, in addition to the VAPTR, to dry the courts quickly – as well as blow off leaves. (A new rolling door to the storage has been ordered – we are aware it is broken and hard to open and close).
~The VAPTR was purchased with a generous donation from a Member
~The AED and SaveStation was purchased jointly with the Parks and Rec Department post a our fundraisers.
~The Drape System to block the sun glare in the Grey gym was purchased with funds raised from PickleSham Palooza
~ The Cover over the bleachers was purchased from funds raised at PickleSham Palooza
~A refrigerator that allows us to keep water and ice packs was donated by a Club member
~Our podium medal stands were MADE and donated by a Club Member
~The wagon we keep in the storage room was purchased from donations.
~The paddle holders were purchased from donations.
I might have missed some items and will add to this list later. I think it is helpful for everyone to realize what good things are happening.

October 2023 will conclude the 2nd year of our 501c3 Domestic Non-Profit Club status. Of the first (original) group of 5 officers, three are rotating off. Sarah and Peggy have signed on for a second two-year term. The three new Board members replacing the board positions of John Doyle, Christine Tekippe, and Myrna Olsson-Owen are Paul Leet, Kim Perry, and Rachel DeLise. WELCOME to the Board, and THANK YOU to the three that have served and given their TIME for HCPC. The three Board members beginning their second year are Mike Bruce, Gene Caso, and Rick Flaherty. The total of eight board members are made of the five that started the Club, and three added in the second year. This every other year roation allows for officers to learn how the club runs from those before them and be able to provide direction and continuity for those coming on the Board after them.

If you are interested in joining the board, or if you’d like to be aware of when we have board meetings in order to observe or address a concern to the group, just ask! Please remember these positions are on a voluntary basis, and be respectful of those that give their time to make our program successful.

We invite you to communicate with us any problems or issues you feel need to be brought to our attention; we also appreciate positive feed-back when you are happy with how things are going. If we are not aware there is a concern, we will not be able to address it. This includes letting us know when balls are getting low in supply, before they are gone. We can’t order more if we don’t know the supply is low. We hope you appreciate that our CLUB provides the balls FOR YOU! We are able to purchase these with the generous donation$ YOU make.
