November 2023 Habersham County Pickleball Club

HCPC News for November 2023

Hi Peeps!

As we gather with our friends or loved ones to celebrate Thanksgiving, I wanted to take a moment to extend my warmest wishes to all of you, our Habersham County Pickleball Club family. This is a time to reflect on the blessings we’ve received throughout the year and express our gratitude for the people who make our lives richer.

The essence of Thanksgiving goes beyond the delicious meals and the warmth of gathering; it’s a time to appreciate the unique bonds we’ve formed within our club. Each of you has brought your passion, enthusiasm, and dedication, making our club a vibrant and thriving group. Whether you’ve been with us for years or have recently joined, your presence is deeply valued.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I encourage each of you to take a moment to think about what you are grateful for. It could be the friendships you’ve made, the skills you’ve acquired, or the sense of belonging that HCPC provides. Remember, it’s often the little things that bring the most joy.

As we continue on our journey as a club, I have no doubt that we will achieve great things together. Your commitment and support drive our success, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for our Club.

So, in this Thanksgiving month, let us count our blessings, share our gratitude, and hold our loved ones close. On behalf of the HCPC Board to you and your family, may your Thanksgiving be filled with warmth, love, and the joys of togetherness. P1

Mark your calendars for our
Holiday Gathering
December 13th, at 12:00

We’ll enjoy a POTLUCK lunch after regular play. The meeting rooms are reserved, but WE NEED a HEAD COUNT!

(No verbal or text RSVP’s please!)

The meat & drinks will be provided.
Everyone brings a favorite dish to share.

There will be no organized play. We’ll follow our usual Wednesday play schedule – inside or outside as you wish, then we’ll gather in the meeting room at 12:00 for lunch, to socialize, and we’ll have a CLUB MEETING to discuss plans for 2024.

COURT COACHES: We are working to create our TEAM of Coaches (for both indoor and outdoor courts).

The role of the court coach will be to direct the Court Play-In Guidelines, especially when courts are full with players waiting to play. This volunteer position is for the intended purpose to ensure everything runs smoothly, to keep playing time fairly distributed, and be enjoyable for everyone.

Often, the rotation to play 4 on 4 off, alternate with 2 on 2 off, or play to 7 (rather than 11) is a ‘judgement call’. Also, occasionally an extra court is needed for one side or the other depending on the number of players waiting to play on either side of the courts. The Court Coach will make the call, and we’d really appreciate your following their guidance.

All board members will automatically be a part of this TEAM, but in addition, we’ll have a few more to rotate in and hopefully always have at least one person on site during Open Play times. Until we have this TEAM in place, each Board member will take turns when we are at the courts and a monitor is needed based on the number of players waiting to play. Remember, the Court Guideline Instructions are (temporarily) posted now and will be permanently posted in the near future. We rely on you to adhere to these guidelines at all times, regardless if a court monitor is present.

THANK YOU in advance for your cooperation; it makes a big difference.

And That’s a WRAP!

Paddles up, Toe the line, and DINK responsibly.
