May 2024 Habersham County Pickleball Club

May Flowers and PickleSham Palooza!

Hi Peeps!

In case you didn’t notice, I missed the April Newsletter. Every spare moment was dedicated to the planning, coordination, and execution, of PickleSham Palooza 2024. The commitment to ensuring the tournament’s success was paramount, and every spare moment was invested in its preparations.

We believe these efforts paid off handsomely. Our pickleball tournament was a resounding success, drawing in an impressive turnout of 169 participants (41 more than last year) hailing from four other states in addition to 36 towns across Georgia, not counting those from Habersham County. Such widespread participation not only reflects the growing popularity of pickleball but also speaks volumes about the event’s appeal and organizational excellence delivered by our fabulous volunteers.

Speaking of volunteers, I wanted to take a moment to extend my deepest gratitude to each of you for your invaluable contribution. Your dedication, hard work, and unwavering support played an integral role in making the tournament a resounding success. From assisting with setup and logistics to ensuring smooth operations before and throughout the event, your tireless efforts did not go unnoticed. Your enthusiasm and commitment were truly inspiring, and your willingness to go above and beyond exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism that lies at the heart of our pickleball community. We’ll honor you with an appreciation lunch in the near future, stay tuned for this announcement.

Now let’s keep the spirit alive to embrace new challenges, seize opportunities, and continue building on the foundations laid by past successes. Here’s to the exciting journey ahead!

Additional tournament news: As we reflect on the event’s achievements, we cannot overlook the invaluable support and generosity of our sponsors and supporting businesses. These sponsorships played a pivotal role in ensuring that the tournament was a resounding success. From providing financial support to offering products or services, their contribution helped offset costs and elevate the overall quality of the event.

Now, it’s our turn to show our appreciation and support them in return.

I urge each of you to take a moment to visit and support the businesses that supported us. Your patronage is a tangible way to express gratitude for their investment in Habersham County Pickleball Club.

Not only does supporting these businesses strengthen our local economy, but it also fosters meaningful relationships and lays the groundwork for future partnerships. Let’s come together as a community to show our appreciation and ensure that our sponsors know just how much their support means to us.

Reminder: Our Play-In Guidelines are POSTED on the outdoor courts. The guidelines are based on our MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Habersham County Parks and Recreation Department. This agreement allows us to guide the use of the Public Courts during scheduled hours and suggest guidelines during all other hours. Please be mindful of and follow these guidelines and be respectful of the ‘court coaches’ as they direct court usage. No court ‘belongs’ to any group or skill level, these are public courts. When there are a large number of players, court assignments could be changed based on the protocol approved by the MOU. Thank you for your cooperation.

Soon we’ll announce the new plan for ordering HCPC shirts, hats, etc. This option allows you to make your selection and place the order when you want it. What exciting progress we are making!

our Board welcomes YOU to visit our monthly meetings. To more easily accommodate your participation, we’ve changed the location to the Aquatic Center (in the meeting room). This will allow space for seating if you’d like to join us. We realize allowing easier access to the meetings will provide transparency and will give you the opportunity for your thoughts to be heard. We will include time on the agenda for your questions and comments. Our next meeting is May 22nd at 12:30.

And That’s a WRAP!
