January 2024 Habersham County Pickleball Club

Happy New Year!

Hi Peeps!

Before I step into the shining horizon of 2024, I want to reflect on our collective successes of 2023 and express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for our incredible accomplishments.

2023 included donations to Habitat for Humanity, The Habersham County Animal Shelter, The Habersham Family Resource Center, The Clarkesville Soup Kitchen, The Habersham Parks & Recreation Summer Youth Grant Program, and The Maui Collective Contributors on behalf of the victims of Lahaina. In addition, the first outdoor AED and SaveStation was installed at the Pickleball & Tennis Complex, our Website (HabershamCountyPickleballClub.com) was created and introduced, we held our FIRST tournament, PickleSham Palooza in May, we covered the bleachers at the pickleball outdoor courts, and we added a drape system to block the sun in the gray gym at the Aquatic Center.

These triumphs (and others) define our Club and showcase the unwavering commitment that each one of you brings to the table.

As we embark on 2024, we’ve set our sights higher and aim for more milestones. The New Year brings with it a canvas of opportunities waiting to be painted with new achievements. Together, we can make HCPC shine brighter than ever before.

Let’s continue to foster our friendly reputation and love of pickleball. Here’s to a winning start and a year filled with victories!

Our first event of the year will be our annual DINK YOUR HEART OUT dinking only Round Robin. Feb. 14th is the perfect day to celebrate National Heart Health Month. The donation proceeds will go towards the purchase of an AED for the Habersham County Emergency Services Department. We will also collect canned and boxed FOOD for The Clarkesville Soup Kitchen. See the EVENTS tab for details.

Our Play-In Guideline official Signage will be posted on the outdoor courts in a few weeks. The indoor guidelines are already available in the ball bucket. These signs should be placed along with the mats we use for paddle line-up. The guidelines are based on our MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Habersham County Parks and Recreation Department. This agreement allows us to guide the use of the Public Courts during scheduled hours and suggest guidelines during all other hours. There will be additional signage for play-in protocol during non-scheduled open play hours. Please be mindful of and follow these guidelines.

Your Board welcomes YOU to visit our monthly meetings. To more easily accommodate your participation, we’ve changed the location to the Aquatic Center (in the meeting room). This will allow space for seating if you’d like to join us. We realize allowing easier access to the meetings will provide transparency and will give you the opportunity for your thoughts to be heard. We will include time on the agenda for your questions and comments. Our next meeting is February 21st at 12:30.

As we gear up for our May PickleSham Palooza Tournament preparation, we’ll be asking for volunteers to join the various committees. We know we can count on YOU for a YES when asked.

And That’s a WRAP!

Paddles up, Toe the line, and DINK positive!
